Therefore, it is important to be aware of the key dates and deadlines, as well as the content and structure of the exam, in order to adequately prepare and maximise the chances of success.

As for the key dates, whilst we await for the key dates to be released, below you will find a comprehensive timetable outlining important dates and milestones leading up to the 2024 11 Plus examination.
May 2024 (previously 9 May 2023) | Test registration opens | Starting from this date, you can enrol your child for the entrance test. As soon as you submit the registration, you will receive an email confirmation to verify that it has been successful. Later, another email/mail will be sent to you, informing you of the test venue. All expenses related to the entrance test, including the test itself, will be covered by the grammar schools. The test should not be used as a practice or mock test by applicants who have no intention of applying for a place at any of The Grammar Schools in Birmingham. In case you choose to register for the optional entrance test and your home address is not conveniently located near The Grammar Schools in Birmingham, the Admissions Office will reach out to you. They will ask for additional information to support your application to take the test. This may include evidence of your intention to relocate, such as a recent job offer in the area. June 2024 (previously 14 June 2023) | Reasonable adjustments deadline | To ensure that your child can access the entrance test, reasonable adjustments can be made if they have a disability or other circumstances that require accommodation. The deadline for requesting these adjustments is on this date, and you must submit all relevant evidence along with your request. To obtain the appropriate form, please contact the Admissions Office. |
June 2024 (previously 30 June 2023 4 pm) | Test registration deadline | The registration deadline for the entrance test is at 4 pm. After this time, it will not be possible to register for the test. |
August 2024 | Confirmation of venue | All parents should have received confirmation of the date, time and test location for students sitting the 2024 11 plus examination. |
September 2024 (previously 16 September 2023) | Entrance test | The entrance test for your child will take place on this date. There will be two sessions held (assuming no reasonable adjustments have been made) – one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Your child will be assigned to one of these sessions, so it is advisable to keep the entire day free from any prior engagements. |
October 2024 (previously 20 October 2023) | Results | You will receive the entrance test results before you submit your Local Authority preference form, but please note that this does not constitute an offer of a place. |
31 October 2024 | Preference form deadline | The deadline for applying for school places through your local authority is on this date. We recommend that you wait for the entrance test results before submitting your application. |
1 March 2025 | School offer | The national date for local authorities to inform parents of the school their child has been offered is either on 1 March or the next working day. |
